The Archway of Chastity

The archway, which is currently under provincial Conservation, is a double-pillar and single-arris archway. It is located in No.4 Shangzhi Road in Cicheng. The structure was built by Feng Youjing, scholar of the Imperial Academy, in memorial of his mother Ms. Liu who was commended by the court during the reign of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty. The relief sculptures on the archway have multiple themes such as “Double dragon chasing the ball”, “Two lions dancing with silk ball”, and “Phoenix facing the sun” etc.
